Skins: Cook’s Supreme

After watching Seasons 1 & 2 of Skins, and being wowed by the legend of Nicholas Hoult, Dev Patel, Daniel Kaluuya, I never thought the second generation would top my amazement as to how talented these kids are! Where do they find these actors? Seriously, how can they ALL be so great? Who is this casing department that does its job so well; there is no weak link in sight!

The way they built these characters, visually, the character, the story arc, I’m speechless at the talent of everyone involved. The writers, actors, casting department.

It’s a thankless job voicing your favorite, in this pleiad of extraordinary talent, but I must - Jack O’Connell - I simply must.

I’m mindblown.

Skins, Season 3 & 4, Cook.

This wasn’t even a role, this was a wholly immersive experience.

I can’t even decide if the actor spilled parts of himself into his role, or this role spilled into him, I’m puzzled, confused, amazed, excited, in awe. To be able to show a range of vulnerability in such a masculine, often violent role; sometimes transferring the emotion to you, the viewer only with his eyes or tone of voice hints to the level of talent we will surely hear about in years to come.

Every single actor in Skins is impressive, but Jack O’Connell in the role of Cook will give you goosebumps. Skins IS Cook! And he will tell you that too, with his famous - “I’m Cook!”

When my excitement about this talent waned down a bit, I was left with only one question: how is this guy not more known, where is Hollywood, does anyone sees this?! I’m divided here, I want him to get noticed and get all the praise possible for his talent, but I also don’t want him to become this Hollywood type; I love the fact he’s so private, that he loathes fame and media - those type of actors come around once in a generation.

All in all, watch Jack in Skins, and watch for this name in years, decades to come! You will hear about him, I promise you.
