Jack

Some days are just like presents in disguise. Two years ago I wrote this post about Jack O'Connell. Everyone that knows me knows I'm a monumental fan of Skins. Jack and Kaya Scodelario, to be precise.

With her, it’s the looks and this - I’m struggling in silence je ne sais quoi - that sends me into a frenzy. But with Jack, it’s shivering all around.

This guy, it’s unexplainable.

Literally the case of - I just can not explain why his performances get to me, move something in me, leave me altered - but I need to watch.

Over and over again.

Same exact scene.

Talent like this comes once in a generation - if we're lucky.

His face, his movements, the mimics, acting and transferring emotion without moving a muscle, it's simply just glorious.

When I first watched him, he had a Tom Hardy-ish vibe about him, but now Tom seems so insignificant in comparison. Jack surpassed him, and many, many more.

What fascinates me most about this level of otherworldly talent; it's always followed by such a low-key personality. It’s what speaks to me and connects me to another human. I just love it ad respect it.

I hated my public persona, and all the attention, the noise I had at my peak, and always felt uncomfortable with it, when I had to pretend it doesn’t bother me.

Jack is unfazed, troubled with fame, attention, people, noise. It’s like medicine to me, watching it. And as much as I want to keep him a secret, away from anyone, fearing like the higher level of fame and attention would somehow ruin him or take him away, damage him, ruin him; at the same time, I want to scream about his talent from the rooftops for everyone to see!

Why is he mostly known in England, why is he not on top of the world, why do we have to see tons of mediocre actors getting such good roles; WHY IS HOLLYWOOD NOT TAKING NOTICE?

And finally, thank you Angelina, Hollywood took notice! The announcement came today, Jack has been cast in Unbroken, directed by Angelina, and written by the Coen Brothers.

I’m happy, proud, ecstatic, and somewhat afraid. I want the world to see his talent, but afraid he won’t be a gem only few know and cherish.

A few? Who am I kidding?

PS - Watch Jack in This Is England if you have a chance. And more importantly, watch him in SKINS Series 3 & 4. You need to see Jack in SKINS, before you see him in anything else, and before he truly takes on the world. You'd want to see his previous work BEFORE he shoots up.

Be a part of the legend in making.

TRUST ME.
